Does Rosa de Rose contain parabens?

Rosa de Rose is 100% free of synthetic constituent, including the usage of synthetic preservatives like parabens.  Our formula has a tested shelf-life of 8 months (from opening), benefiting from the natural preservative qualities of Rosemary and Lavender and the use of Miron violet glass bottles which block out visible light.

Is Rosa de Rose suitable for younger or more aged skin?

Our master formula was created to rejuvenate and restore all skin types.  Oils are also known as lipids or essential fatty acids which occur naturally in your skin.  Rosa de Rose will give your skin a healthy glow and create a protective barrier to hold moisture. Our oil synergy will also protect against environmental damage and over exposure to the elements. As you age, you produce fewer lipids, dehydrating your skin and making it far more prone to wrinkles. Rosa de Rose is strategically formulated with a balance of oils to regenerate and restore your skin.  Daily use will help prevent water loss and replenish the oils lost due to ageing and exposure to the elements.

Do you use a ‘Parfum’?

We do not use a ‘parfum’.  Our botanical ingredients have been formulated to enrich and rejuvenate your skin with a synergising effect that maintains a subtle and sensual scent.  Companies are legally allowed to keep individual fragrance ingredients secret when classified as ‘confidential business information.'   However, some of the ingredients used to maintain the scent and colour of perfumes include phthalates which have been linked to asthma, type II diabetes, and endocrine disruption (amongst other potential health risks).

Does Rosa de Rose contain mineral oil?

Rosa de Rose does not use any by-product obtained as a result of the distillation of petroleum.  Mineral oil is typically used in lotions, ointments and other cosmetics.

Are any of your source ingredients genetically modified?

Journey to Skin ensures that all our botanical ingredients are GMO free.  A GMO is a genetically modified organism or plant whose genetic makeup has been modified using genetic engineering or transgenic technology. This creates new plants that do not otherwise occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.

Facial oils, serums, or creams?

Many creams contain synthetic ingredients and waxes which can build up and clog pores. The better facial creams will contain some oil content.  However, high quality natural oils will more readily penetrate the skin than creams, while also providing a level of moisture retention that is typically better than serums. What distinguishes our facial oil from many beauty skincare products is the emphasis we place on building skin resilience, with a sourcing process that focuses on biodiversity to obtain the most nutrient-dense ingredients.  We pay close attention to the cultivation, harvest, and logistics that impact the quality and bioactive capacity of ingredients - as the finest extraction process will only produce a yield as good as the raw / cured botanical.  Journey to Skin helps to develop and preserve the highest levels of nutrients and phytonutrients in the plant parts we use.

Is Rosa de Rose Organic?

All our ingredients are obtained from farming practices that meet or surpass organic farming principles.  Our methodical development process uses 100% organic polyculture, wildcrafted and biodynamic ingredients sourced from some of the world’s most naturally enriching growing environments.

One of the principles of organic produce is that farmers should emphasise the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water.  However, crops do not need to be grown in a polyculture environment to be certified organic.   As demand for organic produce increases, monoculture farming is becoming more widespread amongst organic farmers; this is due to production efficiencies.   However, monoculture farming is not inherently sustainable, as it promotes soil degradation and erosion due to the absence of neighbouring plant growth and ground cover.   Our sourcing standard emphasises sustainability through biodiversity, giving our botanicals their highly efficacious properties.  So we will not source from monocultures, even if certified organic.

Some of our ingredients are sourced from biodynamic farms which are demeter certified.  Biodynamic farming fulfils organic criteria but with additional requirements.  For example, Biodynamic farms must produce their own fertility in the form of compost and nutrients, while organic farming permits importing.  We also source from ethical wildcrafting practice which fulfils set criteria, such as not harvesting an endangered species and planting new seeds when whole plants are harvested.

Does Rosa de Rose contain Gluten?

Rosa de Rose is entirely Gluten free.  The great majority of botanical extracts and essential oils are Gluten free. Although there is some evidence to suggest that those with Gluten sensitivities may have a negative reaction following the topical use of Oat/Wheat Germ oils.   Rosa de Rose does not contain any Oat or Wheat Germ oils.

Do you test on animals?

Animal testing is animal cruelty.  Our journey to skin process reviews the potential for animal testing for all processes associated with distillation to production of an unadulterated extract.  We work with growers and distillers who commit to no testing on animals.

Does Rosa de Rose contain hydroquinone?

Rosa de Rose does not contain hydroquinone.  This skin bleaching agent is banned through all retail and over-the-counter sales in the UK, however, a Doctor may prescribe it for specific medical conditions.   Currently, products that contain up to 2 percent hydroquinone may be sold in the U.S. without a prescription, and prescription skin-lightening products may contain up to 4 percent hydroquinone.

I have sensitive skin, is Rosa de Rose suitable for me?

Rosa de Rose was created for all skin types, including sensitive skin. However, we recommend that you conduct a patch skin test prior to use.

Can I use Rosa de Rose around my eye area?

Our formula will rejuvenate all areas of the face, including the sensitive eye area.  Just take care on application given the natural fluidity of Rosa de Rose facial oil.

Can I use Rosa de Rose and be exposed to direct sunlight?

Our ingredients do not result in a photosensitive reaction.  While we do use greater concentrations of Bergamot in our day facial oil, our distillation process has ensured no phototoxic properties.

I have dry skin, will Rosa de Rose improve moisture levels?

Our formula helps maintain skin moisture by penetrating the upper layers of the stratum corneum. This process provides variable levels of reduced transepidermal water loss (TEWL) by occlusion, i.e. making it more difficult for water to escape through the surface of your skin.  Using Rosa de Rose will help improve the barrier lipids found in the stratum corneum; the upper layer of your skin.

How do I use Rosa de Rose and incorporate into my daily routine?

Before applying, cleanse and tone your face.   We recommend that you apply 5 to 6 drops in the morning and evening before going to bed.   Use the pipette to apply to hands then rub gently before applying to cheek area and forehead.  Gently tap and press face for a few seconds.   You can then gently rub in circular motion to reach all areas of your face taking care with your sensitive eye area.    It is also a good idea to rub your neck area for a few seconds.    You can use a cream moisturiser after applying Rosa de Rose, or sunscreen protection following morning use.

Why Rosa de Rose?

Rosa de Rose provides a comprehensive experience with a full spectrum approach to efficacy; formulated to rejuvenate, restore and transform your skin.   We created our master formula to support a beautiful ageing process by ensuring your skin is better able to perform its function as a protective organ.  Rosa de Rose will help to restore and beautify your skin without the harshness associated with many Retinol based products.

We achieved this with the Journey to Skin process to improve the functional properties of our botanicals with cultivation in less controlled and more natural growing environments; this allows them to fully develop their nutrient content, which augments botanical compound activity.  The result is a more potent natural extract to transform your skin.

We work hard to obtain superior-grade botanicals from farming systems that can maintain a sustainable nutrient cycle: these are growing environments which accumulate nutrients that stay within the ecosystem.  Such growing environments effectively limit the depletion of soil organic carbon and mineral content, and produce higher quality harvests.  A quality harvest helps to amplify levels of fatty acids to hydrate and plump skin.

From harvest to formulation, we also aim to prevent the degradation of nutrient and phytonutrient levels in our botanicals; these are the bioactive plant chemicals which possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Please see our Journey to Skin process for more information on how we minimise degradation.

From where do you source your ingredients?

13 of our 25 superior-grade botanicals are sourced from Morocco, including our Jasmine, Rosa Damascena, Lavender and Neroli.  We also source from Madagascar, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Australia, Oman, France, Hawaii USA and other countries which host sustainable polyculture farming systems.  We have selected from the highest quality harvests, cultivated across 15 distinct ecosystems.  At its heart, our master formula is a synergy of powerhouse botanicals which have been cultivated in agroforestry systems from Taounate, Morocco.  This northern province is known for its richness of biodiversity, featuring a genetically diverse variety of local cultivars which can be found across a relatively small area.  The beautiful hilly landscape is characterised by small valleys amidst large rock formations which create micro-climates for growth. These growing environments impart unique botanical characteristics for sourcing and extraction. The strategic planting of climate-change resistant olive trees, enriches the surrounding soil and increases productivity of the harvest plains and wildcrafting habitats.
